Fall traditions even with Covid-19

Regardless of Covid-19 restrictions, I find myself still excited for the cooler weather and the fall holidays, especially Halloween. Our outdoor decorations have been hung, the pumpkin recipes have been pulled out, and my favorite scary movie is queued up- nothing beats the original Halloween (from 1978!) with Jamie Lee Curtis. Just hearing a few bars of that creepy score, will get me hiding under the couch blanket. Growing up, fall was also a time for pouring over the thick issues of Seventeen and Vogue magazines to see the latest in fashion trends. These days I accomplish more of my research online. Here are some items I am coveting:

This 100% cotton jean dress is like you favorite jean jacket- so soft and comfy. The army green is a great fall color and stands out as different than your typical blue jean. Wear it so many ways- with tights and booties, white sneakers, or flats.

Slip dresses, a nod to the 90's, are still going strong. Max Mara has a beautiful cream version that is not as revealing as some others- note the thicker straps and more chest coverage. This makes it more wearable for a host of occasions. The fabric is cut on the bias for a beautiful drape. Dress it down with a jean jacket or up with a leather jacket/ blazer.

Aquaitlalia is known for their stylish yet practical waterproof styles of boots. I have a pair that I have worn for 10 years! This chelsea inspired version has a side zip and rubber sole. Comes in a few great colors and it is on sale!

Love this chocolate brown corduroy shirt dress with puffed sleeves and a romantic collar. So feminine and perfect for fall. A continuation of the prairie trend we saw in spring.

What an incredible life RGB has led. I'm actually wearing this t-shirt now as I type. Solid colors are 100% cotton. You can view the documentary Ruth: Justice Ginsberg In Her Own Words thanks to the Mill Valley Film Festival which is happening right now. Usually only shown in theaters, this year it is virtual except for a few of the bigger films at the Drive-In- so fun. Streamed Ruth last night- wow, she is a powerful speaker. Only $10. Shout out to my hubby who has been a board member of the California Film Institute, which puts on the MV Film Festival, for over a decade. There are other great movies too.

Book Passage, an independent book store, has had a series of virtual author events since the beginning of this pandemic that have kept me entertained and sane. This book was suggested by one of the speakers as one of her favorites- I can see why. It is informative without being dry. The author often references her birth in 1969 and how things have changed- so we can relate! The Story of More by Hope Jahren, one of Time Magazines most influential people in 2016, is a must read in my book.

Until next time, stay safe and Happy Halloween
