Let Your Clothes Do The Talking

Happy Spring! The arrival of spring is celebrated around the world, symbolizing hope and new beginnings. A good time to spruce up your look and your closet.

They say what you wear makes a statement. In the case of Phenomenal Woman , this is exactly their purpose. Meena Harris, niece of VP Kamala Harris, founded Phenomenal Woman Action Campaign, to support Women's History Month. She created the "Phenomenal Woman" t-shirt, hoping to sell a few hundred. To her great surprise, she ended up selling many thousand. The mission to uplift women of all shapes, colors and backgrounds, has led to an expansion of her apparel line. She has partnered with many non-profits on a wide range of policy issues. Here are some of my favorites:

Women with opinions and Ambition? Bring it on.

And my daughter's personal favorite, Air Barack. With the unisex sizing, this is also becoming a favorite for men.

I lived in clogs in middle school and now they are making a comeback. Or maybe they always were around, but I am noticing them more often. This pair from Loeffler Randall are especially cute with the tied knot detail. Great with jeans or bohemian dress. Very comfy. Runs narrow.

Loungewear and sneakers are here to stay. Veja has many stylish versions and is a designer sneaker that won't break the bank. The brand focuses on sustainability and giving back, specifically to the farming families in Brazil. The Esplar style comes in many colors.

Vanessa Bruno , a french designer, creates apparel that is timeless and sophisticated. Check out her knitwear and easy dresses. This striped sweater with puffed sleeves will keep you warm and looking chic in the cool evenings.

TROVATA Birds of Paradis is a west coast lifestyle brand. Their prints and light cotton fabrics are perfect for the hot days ahead. The Eloise short sleeve pintuck shirt pairs well with jeans or under a blazer and screams spring in this green floral print. The Kristi Dress in their goldenrod print is easy to put on with flip flops, white sneakers, or sandals.

BOOK PICK:

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love children's literature. I've kept probably 50 picture books from my kids' childhood bedtime reading. One of my favorite authors was Amy Krouse Rosenthal. Her book Spoon, was a family favorite. Sadly, Amy died of cancer at the height of her career. Before her death, Amy managed to write an article in the NY Times Modern Love section titled You May Want to Marry my Husband. It went viral. The husband, Jason Rosenthal, became famous overnight. He, in turn, has written a memoir about loss and resiliency in his book, my wife said you may want to marry me.

Make time to enjoy the outdoors. Until next time.....
